2018 TBR Pile Challenge

2018tbrbutton

12 books from my “to be read” pile within 12 months. Sounds easy, but it will definitely be a hard challenge for me. I often plan to read specific books but then I see a book on Litsy, or in an article, or in an email from my friend that sounds so much better!

The specifics and Mr. Linky sign-up for the 2018 TBR Pile Challenge can be found on Roof Beam Reader’s blog, but basically it’s 12 books that have been on my TBR pile for at least 12 months and must be read and reviewed within the next 12 months.

Here is my list:

  1. His Family by Ernest Poole (1918)
Crossover to Pulitzer Prize Fiction Winners Challenge
  2. The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton (1921)
Crossover to Pulitzer Prize Fiction Winners Challenge
  3. One of Ours by Willa Cather (1923)
Crossover to Pulitzer Prize Fiction Winners Challenge
  4. I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak (2006)
  5. Last Will by Bryn Greenwood (2012)
  6. The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma (2016)
  7. Pastoralia by George Saunders (2001)
  8. Walden on Wheels: On the Open Road From Debt to Freedom by Ken Ilgunas (2013)
  9. Journal of a Mountain Man: James Clyman’s Own Story (Epic Adventures) by Win Blevins (2014)

  11. An Unnecessary Woman by Rabih Alameddine (2014)
  12. Out of Sorts by Aurelie Valognes (2016)

Two (Allowed) Alternates:

  1. Ohhh, I love The Age of Innocence, and I really need to read One of Ours (because Cather is one of my favorites) and I Am the Messenger (because I’ve read The Book Thief twice and loved it both times).

  2. One of Ours is excellent. I thought it was going to be a war novel, but a lot of it is leading up to the war and so quite a bit of it takes place in Nebraska on the prairie. It’s wonderful.

  3. Great list! I have I Am the Messenger on my tbr, too, after reading The Book Thief last year and loving it. Good luck with your challenge!
